November 6

My second water lily was created with oil pastel. Then I used colored pencils to create a scraffito effect. I was trying to get away from a more linear approach to the softened look of an impressionist artist. I still wasn’t completely happy with the effect so I started playing around with the image with the Photo Impressions 5 software. I used a cartoon effect to further break up the image.

  1. wow! This is gorgeous! I enjoy the softening effect! (Blog spot sometimes rejects my comments, can't read my Typepad ID, so just in case - this is Julie Jordan Scott and I am adding a line here with my AEDM post attached. Hope that's ok! :-)

  2. I like the way the dark background really makes the water lily pop. It really changes the impact of the lily.
